Hello,

a bit about me:

I’m Simon, a recent graduate from the University of Florida (UF) with a Master of Science in Management. I attended UF for my undergraduate studies as well and hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology along with a minor in Chinese Studies. I am particularly interested in Human Resources as well as the Industrial and Organizational aspects of psychology. More specifically, how to better evaluate and assess human behavior in organizations to provide employees with an enhanced workplace experience. I would say that my interest in business from a psychology standpoint can be attributed to my dad, a Chinese immigrant and restaurateur. As cliché as it sounds, being the son of a restaurant owner meant helping out at the family business whenever I could. The countless hours spent working alongside my dad has taught me that running a restaurant is no menial task. Problems stemming from disorganized management to high employee turnover rates are just a minute portion of the difficulties. This idea of tackling managerial issues to ensure the satisfaction of both employees and customers was what piqued my interest in the business perspective of psychology.

Furthermore, having been exposed to a multicultural environment growing up, I’ve been taught to see the world through different lenses. Since childhood I was torn between my two cultures, however, slowly I learned to appreciate and accept the conflicting values that two cultures may hold. My multicultural background was what eventually sparked my interest in pursuing a minor in Chinese Studies at UF. I wanted to establish a genuine connection with my Chinese roots by properly learning the language and culture. Along the road, I ended up joining the International Scholars Program and the Peace Corps Prep Program. This website is a way of documenting my international experiences and journey as I continue to broaden my cultural horizons.
